Ultima Underworld and Mob return to GOG, and now they're free

In June, Ultima Hell and Syndicate were removed from GOG at the "publisher's quest," that publisher being Electronic Humanities. The reasons for the remotion weren't made clear, stellar to speculation that EA was sounding to make them Origin exclusives operating room, dare to woolgather, dress something new with the serial. Regardless of the specifics, it was a departure: Both games are very old (Underworld came out in 1992, Syndicate followed in '93) but they are absolute landmarks in their genres and still rattling fun, as long as you can adjust to the precise dateable interfaces.

The good news is that they're back, and the level better news is that they'atomic number 75 all discharged for the next some weeks: Until September 3, Consortium Advantageous, Syndicate Wars, and Ultima Underworld 1 and 2 (they come in a parcel) are free to take and keep forever.

"IT seems that twenty years on there's still plenty of love for these titles so we'atomic number 75 pleased to confirm that in effect immediately they'll be free again on GOG, and we'll be keeping them in the store for the foreseeable hereafter," EA same. "To celebrate this we're offering these games A a free download for four weeks."

The announcement doesn't say anything about refunds, but retroactive-gamers World Health Organization rushed to grab any surgery all of them before their removal in June will not be left hanging. Syndicate owners say in the comments that their order story listings now admit links to invite refunds, so they can be atomic number 75-claimed for free, and Ultima Underworld does as asymptomatic. Leverage date doesn't seem to be a factor: I bought it in 2013 and the link is still there. (And no, I am not going to click it.)
